Ways to support Directory
Join the team!
Directory’s biggest block to success right now is a lack of manpower. It’s currently developed by a one-gal team who has taken a step back and doesn’t have time to make this a success. Below are a few roles that I need help with, but if you think you can contribute in another way, do feel free to reach out!
Directory’s vision
My vision for Directory is to be a free, not-for-profit, mostly open source and mostly unrestricted app to facilitate connecting with local people in person.
The dream would be that we support millions of users, with very low server costs and enough donations to support a small team to maintain it part time.
iOS Testing and Release Management
I need someone to manage iOS testing and release. This requires little coding, but a good ability to figure out technical things. I’ve already been through most of it and am happy to lend a hand to get you started.
You’re responsibilities would be:
- Own an iPhone and an Apple computer.
- Compile the app with XCode and briefly test features on iOS whenever a new release is made
- Upload builds to the Apple App store and manage the app store page.
- The app itself is compiled via Godot, an open source game engine, which already exports to iOS platforms. However you may need to handle integration with anything that interacts with the iOS operating system, namely push notifications, photo library access and location services.

Marketing
Marketing makes or breaks a dating app. I could use help with SEO, branding, and social media outreach.
Security and Reliability Engineering
I have security experience, and the app is secure, however there is plenty to do to make it more robust against DDOS attacks, bot scraping and more. I want someone to make the Directory server code bullet-proof and do tests and write ups on security.
The server is in RUST and the client code is exported from the open source game engine Godot.
Godot Development
The directory frontend is made with Godot, an open source game engine that compiles to all major platforms. Maintain, improve and add new features to the app.

I still have slots available for Android and iOS testing. This is essentially an early access program where you will have access to the latest versions of the app before they have been released. You can use the app as normal and simply let me know if you come across any bugs, glitches or other issues!
